So just a few weeks ago, I broke my elbow while sailing - I fell hard on the concrete dock while trying to tie the boat off. A recent trip to the dr. confirmed that I would be off the bike for a few more weeks. As you can imagine I am more than a little bummed. I was really looking forward to hitting the local trails on the weekends, sailing during the week and of course, spin classes to stay in shape. None of that is happening and I feel like I'm going to lose it, especially on days like this when it's sunny and in the 70s. Instead of riding, we have have gone to the beach, hung out with friends and recently we went camping in Vermont and floated down the Connecticut River with a group of friends on a couple of rafts tied together so that we could engage in debauchery i.e. drink lots of cold beer. It was a good time and the scenery was amazing. But, I miss being "active" - the sense of accomplishment after huffing and puffing until you're almost cross-eyed while scurrying up a long climb and the exhilaration of flying down the trail over obstacles.
UPDATE: I just got cleared by the doc to start exercising and light lifting so that means I can start spinning and riding again. Of course, I can't hammer the trails like usual since that usually means falling, crashing, etc.
