30,000 Pink Ribbons
Last Sunday, Seth and I participated in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Boston. Over 30,000 people walked and raised $3 million for breast cancer research and awareness programs. It was truly a special day as we both walked in memory of two ladies -- my dear friend and Seth's Aunt, both of whom passed away with breast cancer. Since 2001, I've participated in a walk or run to honor my friend. It's always been my special time with her. The whole time I'm running (or walking in this case), I think about what her life, her courage, her sense of hope and generosity meant to me. She was such a beautiful spirit. She was one of those rare people that always had grace and a presence about her that you automatically trusted, loved and wanted to emulate. This was the first year that I shared that time with someone else who also has lost someone to breast cancer and who also was special to me. It made it all the more powerful and such a blessing.
