Legally Blonde not found here
Today was a good day. I went to my first two lectures and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had anticipated. It was actually invigorating. It's funny how friends and alums tell you how scary it is and how much time you spend worrying about it. And also how the classroom experience is depicted in movies like the The Paper Chase and Legally Blonde. Of course, I'm sure the professors took it easy on us and it will get progressively more challenging. But today was fun and I was prepared. Last night, I poured over the brief that was due today and although I struggled with trying to figure out what a "directed verdict" was and what constitutes "consent" and "false imprisonment", it was very gratifying to see that I was in the same ballpark and had somewhat of a grasp. As much of a grasp as I could have at the moment. The professor was pleasantly surprised at how eager we all were to answer and to participate. If we didn't provide the answer he/she was looking for, they just moved on. I also found myself intrigued by the questioning and anxious to read more and apply what I've learned to the new material. The first day! I also enjoyed meeting my fellow classmates and observing their interactions with each other. They're sharp, excited and friendly. Before and after the lectures, the class was buzzing with chatter. Where are you from? Where do you live? Where's a good place to get beers? They're so excited to be in law school and especially in Boston. The city is truly magnificent. It has such a poetic beauty to it. It rings of freedom, liberty, tolerance, justice...history and vision. I love it.
