A Brighter Note

Well Day 10 features bright shorts, black stripe shirt, statement earrings and metallic sandals.  I'm wearing my Michael Kors striped shirt that has been in my closet forever.  I love the ruched waist and zipper detail on the sleeves. I chose black patent sandals and bright turquoise capris.  It's not my favorite look but totally fine for a day at the office.

And on a "brighter" note, I worked out this morning with a good friend (who lives in our neighborhood) who literally put me through her version of a boot camp.  I got up super early before the little and we had a great workout.  Lots of weights and running.  And I survived.  I can do this.

In the Right Direction

Day 9 of the Challenge features khaki shorts, tribal printed top, and wedges. I hate my khaki pants (huge waist) so I opted for a khaki print maxi dress instead.  I paired it with a gold heart statement necklace and my Merrill wedges.  I have several compliments today.  ;-)

And I have decided that it's time to put my vision board in action.  I'm meeting a good friend of mine for a workout tomorrow morning at 6:30 a.m. And, I signed up for the Mamma Jamma ride in September.  I'm so excited!  There
are several distances to choose from ranging from 17 miles to 100 miles.  My hubby has committed to doing it with me so it will be a great experience training and riding together.  He is faster so we decided to get a bike trailer for Ella so maybe this momma can keep up with him if she's in tow.

Bright Day at the Office (and rainy too)

Today the challenge was to wear a white tee, denim shorts, sneakers, and a bright cardigan.  Of course, no denim or tee shirts at the office so I opted for hot pink cardy, white blouse with ruffle detail, navy slacks, and my Merrill wedges.  All of these items were in my closet long before the challenge. In fact, I consider this combination as my go to uniform year round.  I have several white blouses that I pair with a cardigans (I have many) and either slacks or skirt.  I wear this combo on my office days, CLEs and mediations. However, today the feature accessory should have been an umbrella as I got nearly soaked when I rushed to my afternoon client appointments.  Thank goodness for the umbrella or that white blouse would have been an embarrassing moment!!

Bright Day at the Park

Day 6 of the challenge featured a bright tee, khaki shorts, wedges, and a statement necklace.  I wore a Banana Republic tee (closet), Loft linen printed shorts (closet), Merrill wedges, silver earrings, and silver arrow bangle.  We spent the morning at a local park which was hosting a tomato festival.  Ella and I shared a strawberry lemonade that was fresh and delicious.

Tribal Friday

Day 5 of the challenge and I can wear jeans to the office because I don't have court today!  The challenge was to wear denim shorts/jeans, tribal print top, statement earrings, metallic sandals and a fedora.  So this is my spin on the challenge:  Olive & Oak top, Vera Wang skinny jeans, Old Navy metallic flip flops, and silver teardrop statement earrings from a nearby boutique. Ahhh, this selfie thing is driving me crazy!

The Selfie Challenge

Day 4 of the challenge - Printed shorts, bright tank, neutral wedges, long necklace and wedges.  It's a work day and I have a networking luncheon to go to so I had to sub in the "work" appropriate pieces.  Of course I can't wear a fedora but I took a pic with it for fun and also brought it with me.  It's hanging out in my car begging for a chance to be worn.

This is also the first day since the challenge that the hubby beat me out of the house this morning so I was challenged with taking a selfie.  Not great results but perhaps I'll get better as time progresses.  Neither the iPhone or the lighting were my friends
this morning.

What I'm wearing:  J Crew blouse (thrifted), Straw Fedora (my closet), WHBM Necklace, Ann Taylor skirt (my closet), Merrill wedges (my closet)

Red Stripe Wednesday

Today our challenge featured a striped tee, khaki shorts, metallic/neutral shoes, and a long necklace.  Obviously, I can't wear shorts to the office to meet clients so I subbed a pair of khakis that have been hanging in the back of my closet.  They're not my favorite but after trying on my khaki skirt and dress slacks that no longer fit, these khakis were my only option that fit within the challenge.  A new challenge is going to be for me to lose a couple of pounds so that I can fit into dressier pieces. You know it's an issue when you can't fit in an A-Line skirt!  I also received word that my cholesterol is elevated so I really need get focused on integrating some exercise, any exercise into my daily routine.  Apparently, chasing a toddler doesn't qualify.  Sigh.

Gettin my Court on

Day 2 of the challenge and unfortunately for me, I have court so I couldn't pull off the denim vest, striped T, shorts and sneakers.  I subbed a blue oxford and neutral heels.  Excuse the picture - my husband and I were chasing the little one around while simultaneously posing for or taking the picture.  Happy Tuesday.  Off to court then lunch with some fellow MAMAs.

Blue oxford from my closet, BR pants from last season, white watch from Charming Charlie's, Easy Spirit Pumps

Gettin My Pretty On

So I am stepping way out of my comfort zone and attempting to participate Get Your Pretty On's Style Me Summer Challenge for the next 21 days.  I've never done anything like this before but it sounds fun and who couldn't use a little help in the Fashion Department??  This particular challenge is neat because the hostess provides a shopping list for you to shop your closet and/or the stores for trends.  Once the list is released (24.99 to play), you have a couple of weeks to get ready for the "challenge" which consists of the hostess sending a picture of an outfit for you to pull from your closet every day for 21 days.  The idea is to teach you how to style for the remainder of the summer and beyond for us Texans.  Today was the 1st day.  I had to modify it a bit to be more work / court appropriate.  You can voluntarily post to a FB group that she created for the members and the best part is seeing what others are doing.  So far we're off to a good start as everything I wore today was already in my closet
